Why I created this:

Hey there! I'm Helene, and I'm here to share the journey that led me to create The Polyvagal Guide: Navigating Wellness for You and Your Clients.

I'm a therapist, just like you. I spend my days working with child clients in schools and private practice helping them navigate the labyrinth of their emotions and experiences. But there was always this nagging feeling within me, a yearning to understand more about the body and its incredible connection to the mind.

One fateful day, I stumbled upon the concept of Polyvagal Theory. It was like a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered. As I delved deeper into this fascinating theory, I realised its potential to transform not just my practice, but the lives of my clients.

But here's the thing – Polyvagal Theory can be quite complex and intimidating, especially for those who are new to it. That's when it hit me: I wanted to make this incredible knowledge accessible to everyone, therapists and clients alike.

So I decided to create a guide dedicated to providing therapists/counsellors in practice, students, and anyone curious about their body and nervous system with a deeper understanding and practical tools to support their clients.

Through the Polyvagal Guide, I wanted to break down the barriers that often separate us from truly understanding the intricacies of the nervous system. I wanted to empower all of us to speak the language of our bodies, to uncover the underlying stories behind our clients' struggles.

But, as I work primarily with child clients I didn't want this journey to be a serious, academic pursuit - I wanted it to be playful, friendly, and inviting. Because let's face it – learning is so much more enjoyable when it's approached with a light-hearted spirit. So, expect a sprinkle of humour, a dash of creativity, and a whole lot of empathy as we explore the wonders of Polyvagal Theory together.

Let's embark on this journey together. Let's demystify Polyvagal Theory, one step at a time, and embrace the power it holds to revolutionise our practice.

Remember, you're never alone in this. I'm here to support you every step of the way. Together, let's create a community where knowledge thrives, compassion flourishes, and healing becomes a collective endeavour.

With warmth and excitement,

Helené
